Ivory Bans

The push to ban all ivory sales in the UK...

According to this article by Nicola Davidson, posted to CNN, there is an ongoing effort in the UK to institute a "near-complete ban" on ivory similar to the ban put in place in the US.  From the article, it is unclear if the UK ban would only pertain to elephant ivory or would include walrus and other sources exempted by the US ban.

Ivory bans hurt Native Alaskan carvers and artists

Check out this interesting article from NPR that explores how the well-intentioned bans on elephant ivory are harming Native Americans who legally carve walrus tusks.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service website has more information on the near-total ban on elephant ivory in the United States.
